Today, the first monopile foundation for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) was installed approximately 29 miles off the Virginia Beach coast. CVOW is the largest offshore wind farm under construction in the United States and will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power up to 660,000 homes. During installation we are implementing extensive measures to protect whales and other aquatic life, including the use of double bubble curtain to reduce soundwaves underwater during installation, as well as staffing vessels with Protected Species Observers. This May, we honor the rich history and vibrant cultures of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders that help form the tapestry of America’s story. Recently, employees embraced diversity at an API ERG Spring Festival featuring traditional dishes, dance performances, and informational booths.

I’m inspired by the way our employees volunteer their time and energy to worthy causes that make a lasting difference in our communities — and they do it on top of their day-to-day duties at Dominion Energy.   We recently recognized employees in five categories at the Benjamin L. Lambert, III Volunteer of the Year Awards: Veteran – Rhe Adams Lifetime Career Achievement – Jim Bulloch  Critical Human Needs – Nicole Leggett Environment – Matthew Love Education – Andrea Taliaferro These outstanding individuals have a generosity of spirit and have touched so many lives by translating sign language for caseworkers after 9/11; providing AIDS education in Native American villages; founding and growing our Southeast Veterans Employee Resource Group; visiting schools to educate students about electricity, renewable energy and careers in the energy industry; helping families with food insecurity, mental health and youth development; leading a winter clothing-and-shoes drive; refurbishing an outdoor classroom; building fences at a horse rescue center; helping students with reading comprehension, critical thinking, confidence and conflict resolution; and much more. We were so pleased to have Carolyn and Charles Lambert once again in attendance. The celebration is named in honor of their husband and father who selflessly served the Richmond community for decades.

There’s a party going on right here… I had the best time participating in two special events in South Carolina. It’s time to come together… At the first event, we celebrated the consolidated Cayce Operations Campus, including a refreshed cafeteria and the opening of the new gym facilities. The campus looks great, and the positive energy of all being together was felt by everyone. A dedication to last throughout the years… This week, we marked 40 years of operations at VC Summer Nuclear Power Station. Current employees reminisced with local leaders and retirees, many of whom helped build the station from the ground up! We honored the past as we looked forward to extending the life of VC Summer from 60 to 80 years! Celebrate good times, come on!

The first six foundations for the largest offshore wind project under construction in the United States — Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind — have been loaded onto DEME Group's offshore wind installation vessel, the Orion. The heavy-lift crane on the Orion, is approximately 300 feet tall — nearly the height of the Statue of Liberty! And the vessel is equipped with both a Vibro Hammer and Impact Hammer, which will be used in combination with state-of-the-art noise mitigation technologies to protect marine mammals.

Earlier this year, our team completed work to replace the Chemical Additional Tank at North Anna Power Station. Conducting critical work during planned outages is one way we ensure North Anna continues to provide reliable, carbon-free electricity to power 450,000 homes. #nuclear #nuclearenergy
